Seven months

Our happy little boy
Well Lucas is officially closer to one than he is to a newborn… we can’t believe how fast time is flying by. Lucas is the best baby in the world, and we just love him to pieces. I feel like he is changing and becoming more of a character each and every day.
I don't know why, but I just love this picture.
Likes:
·         Bouncing – he will bounce pretty much any time anyone will let him. He has a toy that he can bounce in but he will also bounce on people if you stand him up.
·         Walking in his Elmo toy – grandma has an Elmo toy with wheels, and he LOVES that he can use his legs to push all around grandma’s house.
·         His Tigger – his cousin Lilli gave him her Tigger, and oddly enough it seems to be his favorite toy we own.
·         Talking – he loves to talk and talk and talk.
·         Sesame Street – he loves his videos, specifically the Will-i-am, Train, and The Elmo Song(it is THE ONLY time we can get the kid to sit for more than a few minutes)
·         Juice – the doctor told us we could start juice at his last appointment, and he definitely likes the addition to his food/drinks.
·         Smiling – even when he is sad it is so easy to get him to smile just by talking to him.
·         PULLING HAIR!!!!! – its just awful…. he has such a strong grip and of course I am always the target.
Trying to crawl
 Dislikes:
·         Crawling backwards – he STILL has not figure out how to move forward when crawling. His stance is getting better and better every day… but he still goes backwards.
·         Sitting – he still for some reason doesn’t want to sit, I really really hope he gets over that soon.
·         Being left – even if we just walk into the kitchen while he is playing he will start “mamamamama”-ing and crying.
·         Colds – he got another cold… and this one seems to be staying around for awhile.
So proud of himself.
Accomplishments:
·         First trip – I don’t know if that is really an accomplishment or not, but he did take his first out of state trip to Utah.
·         Sitting in a cart – it was very nice… the one time he was willing to do it for more than a few minutes.
·         Living without his pacifier – he hasn’t mastered anything but we are working on only having his pacifier at naps/bedtime and so far when he doesn’t have it, he seems to be fine.

Love this boy!

Six Months

Happy 4th of July!

I can’t believe our little man is already half a year old already! Time seems to be flying by. This past month was a fun one for mommy, being off work and getting to see Lucas 24/7 has been a real treat. He is becoming such a funny little guy, he is definitely a goofball like his parents. He is a perfect fit for our little family. I can honestly say Lucas has changed daddy and mommy for the better. We just love our little guy to pieces.

Stats:

Height – 28in.- 93rd (he's a tall boy!)

Weight - 18.2 - 65th (yay!)

Head - 43.18 - 42nd

He loves being on his belly!

Likes:

  • Talking/screaming – he really loves to hear his own voice, whether it’s talking or just screaming with excitement. His screams are so loud that some days I think he is going to bust my eardrum. His favorite phrase is “goi goi goi” or as Vinnie would like to say “goy goy goy”(either way its super adorable).
  • Rolling – he has known how to roll from both sides for a little while, but just this month he has realized that the rolling process can get him where he wants. Some days I swear I look away for 5 seconds and he is on the other side of the floor by the time I look back.
  • Eating – he gets so excited when we make him a bottle or cereal. He will grab for it and then giggle when he can finally get to his food.
  • Dakota – he has recently noticed the “other” things living in the house. Oliver is still keeping his distance so there hasn’t been much bonding on that front. But, Kota loves people so the second Lucas showed interest she was ready and willing. Lucas will pet Kota and also let Kota lick him without any issues.
    Lucas' new best friend

Dislikes

  • His food being gone – when try to take the bottle from him he will chomp down so we can’t take it away, then once we finally do his will stare longingly in the direction of the bottle. As if the stare itself will bring the bottle back. Then when that doesn’t work he tries to lunge towards it in hopes he can catch it. He doesn’t quite realize that even if we gave it back, it would still be empty.
  • Daddy being gone – daddy has been working REALLY long hours lately and so Lucas only sees him in the morning for about 10minutes. When he is home on his days off Lucas will literally stare at him all day long just to make sure his isn’t leave again.
  • Not moving the way his wants – he has figured out the “stance” for crawling… but has not put the hand and leg concept together yet, so he will try to move forward and he actually ends up scooting backwards instead of going forwards. It makes him incredibly angry… but hopefully the fact that he continues to do it means he is getting close to crawling.
  • Nap time – he pretty much hates not being around for whatever is going on… so he NEVER wants to take a nap.
That was a roll and scoot
Accomplishments:

  •  Vegetables – he is officially a vegetable eater, and so far so good.
  • Moving – although he doesn’t always like the way he is moving, he is really good at getting around. It scares me because I never know where he is going to end up.
  • Playing – he really loves his toys, and has finally started picking what he wants and spending time playing with that particular item.
  • Throwing - as I said last month he LOVES eating his hands, and he has figured out if he throws his pacifier he will get a few seconds of eating his hands with not fight at all.

Five Months

Love his pants and jeans... and notice his HANDS!
More hands....
Every month, I can’t believe how much bigger Lucas gets. This month is no exception. Every day I seem to notice something new, or his clothes seem to fit a little different than the day before. We are enjoying every moment of this little guy's life! People ask us all the time if he is always as happy as he seems when we are out and about, and luckily for us, the answer is yes. He spends most of his time being happy and smiley, which makes the unhappy times seem just a little more bearable! We don’t have stats for this months post but I’m pretty sure our little chunky monkey is finally going to be closer to that 50th percentile in weight next month!
More eating of his hands!

Likes:
  • Talking – he has recently discovered just what his vocal cords can do, and trust me he is trying out just about every sound he can think of. He will sit and talk for hours if you will let him. He especially likes it when you will respond back to him in “his language”.
  • His Hands – this one we aren’t too fond of, but he really loves to suck on his hands, and if you tell him not to he will get a big grin on his face and giggle and stick it right back in. One day Vinnie was determined to not let his hands be in his mouth and was watching him extra close and our little stinker still managed to sneak his hands in.
  •  Laughing – he pretty much thinks everything is funny. No matter what is happening or who is talking he seems to find humor in it. He came to see me at work one day and he just laughed and laughed at everything and everyone.
  • Smiling – he is quite the charmer. Even if he is upset for some reason if he sees someone looking his way he will flash the biggest grin you could imagine.
  • Cereal – he gobbles it all down so quickly… if only his tummy liked it as much as he does.

One cool dude!
Dislikes
  • Bed time/nap time – it is THE ONLY time this kid really screams. But when it’s time for sleep you better believe you will hear this kid. He has perfected his "I don’t want to sleep" cry.
  • His car seat :( - we have reached the point where he is just a little to long for his car seat, and it is starting to be warm outside, so he sweats in his seat. And he just seems to hate getting in it anymore.
  • The camera – he seems to get really shy any time I pull out my camera or my phone to take a picture or a video.
First time using a spoon.
Accomplishments:
  •  Talking – again he just loves to have conversations with us.
  • Eating from a spoon – I don’t know how he figured it out so fast, but he is really really good with a spoon.
  • Moving – he has figured out how to get himself from point A to point B really well. Whether he rolls to get there or uses his strong little legs to push himself forward. It is really quite amazing. I’m pretty sure we are going to have a crawling baby pretty soon.
  •    Grabbing – he has been working on this one for months, but he has finally fine tuned grabbing the thing he wants. My sister, Kimi, has been babysitting him while I finished school, and the other day I went to pick him up and Lilli looked at me and said “Do you know he likes to grab hairs?” Sadly that is one of his favorite things to grab(as it is for most babies).

Four Months

Lucas loves George.

This month has proven to be just a great as all the others. I think every day we love Lucas more and more. This little guy has really changed our family for the best. He can make the absolute worst day turn to a great day just by smiling at us. I know I’m driving people crazy, because all I want to ever do is talk about him.

Stats:

Height –26 inches -  83rd percentile

Weight - 14lbs 12oz - 32nd percentile :(

Head - 41.91cm - 56th percentile

The doctor also told us today that he is ready to move on to solid foods!

Angry face.

Likes:

  • Playing with daddy – he likes playing with mommy but the squeals and giggles he makes while playing with daddy are amazing.
  • Baths – he has finally figured out that if he kicks or hits he will splash, and he LOVES it!
  •  Toys – he has 3 toys that make him happy no matter what is happening around him. He has his Sophie, George, and Herman (thanks to his daddy for 2 of those names….)
  • Playing with his jungle – its a music maker that has toys that move around, it entertains him for hours.
His jungle.

Dislikes

  • Being tired but not wanting to sleep – he fights sleep all the time and just screams and screams until he just can’t stay awake anymore.

Accomplishments:

  • Rolling – he can now roll from his belly to his back and from his back to his belly… and he quite enjoys doing so.
  • Sleeping in his crib – we have now made it 8 or so days in the crib and he doesn’t fight it at all any more.
  • Holding his bottle – he can’t do it for his whole feeding, but he will hold his own bottle for a good portion of his feeding.
So cute!

Three Months

Lucas with mommy and daddy on his blessing day.

This month has started out as the best so far. We were finally able to bless Lucas. The whole Schofield clan was able to come home for it, along with my grandparents. Lucas is such a character these days. I can’t think of a moment that he isn’t making us laugh or smile. Coming home from work is quite possibly my favorite part of every day because I get to see my sweet little man.
Even though this wasn’t a normal check-up month, we did get stats for this month. Lucas got sick and his crazy mom decided he had to go to the doctor, so here they are!

Stats:

Height – 25.25inches - 90 percentile

Weight - 12lbs 12oz - 40 percentile
Isn't he just darling??

Likes:

  • His hands – he prefers his hands to anything else. I am so worried at this point that I’m going to have a thumb sucker for life!
  • Talking – he is such a wonderful conversationalist.
  • Baths – this is a new one… he really hated them for a long time. But now the warm water makes him really happy.
  • Music – I know I have said this in every post so far, but he loves music so very much.
    This is daddy's favorite
Dislikes

  • When his bottle is gone – doesn’t matter how much is in the bottle, he doesn’t like it to be gone ever.
  • Non-moving car seats – as long as we are in the car and going, he is fine… but if we stop… just get ready for the tears.
  • Not knowing how to breathe – with his cold and still being a nose breather he has had some very sad moments of not knowing exactly what to do.
Everyone loves this grumpy face for some reason.
Accomplishments:

  • Making noises - he will have full on conversations with us where we will respond with things such as “oh and then what happened?” and he will just squeal and giggle forever.
  • Sitting up – he still has to lean on one of us, but he is getting some really good control.
  • “Standing” – we will hold him up and he will plant his feet right on the ground and just stand there.
    I just love this picture.

    And this one too!

We got professional pictures done... this is just one of the many.
