15 months

15 month & seeing Whitney!
Now that Lucas is 1, I have decided to only blog every 3 months. In the last 3 months , Lucas has literally transformed from our little baby to a little boy. He is the absolute joy of our life. We can’t even imagine what life was like before him… and honestly we probably don’t want to. He makes every minute of our life fun!
13 months old

Stats:
Height - 2'8" - 78th percentile
Weight - 28lbs 15oz - 98th percentile
Head - 18.7 inches - 69th percentile
His very first hair cut!
Likes:
The couch – He has recently decided that the couch is super cool…. But it is not super cool to have mom and dad lift him up. So he figured out how to lift his leg and roll himself right up onto the couch.
Playing – He has figured out a lot of things about his toys, mainly which ones are big enough to put something else in.
His bikes – He got 2 little bikes for his birthday and has HATED them and unwilling to even try to ride them. Recently he has figured out how to climb on and ride around all on his own and now he plays on them whenever he gets a chance.
Food – This kid has never struggled with food, but we absolutely love that he is willing to try anything we put in front of him. And most of all we LOVE how much he loves fruit!
Dancing – It is adorable, any time a song comes on he stops whatever he is doing and either gets up and dances or bobs his head to the song.

Dislikes:
Getting in trouble – Lucas is most definitely one of those kids that pushes the boundaries as far as he can… and his father will tell you, I let it go too far most of the time. When he does finally push too far he gets told no and gets time outs and such… and he has learned to throw quite a fit about it all.
Not getting his way – He is a lot like his mommy in this sense, if it doesn't go his way he throws a pretty great fit.
Love his eyes!
Accomplishments:
Walking – One day Lucas decided he wanted to walk, so he stood up and he did. After that day he took about 2 days to have it down, now he runs around the house everywhere.
Talking – He still is pretty hard to understand, but he has added quite a few words into his vocabulary. The cutest one is when something bad happens, I always respond “uh oh” to him and now he will respond back “UHT OH” and when he says the oh part he makes a full circle with his mouth.
Closing doors – This one drives me crazy, because he will run to his room and close the door all the time. He also likes to close daddy out of the bedroom when we are trying to get ready. It however, is really cute when he will close the door we are walking out of.
Feeding himself – He doesn’t normally like “help” from mom or dad to eat, he wants to feed it to himself, and for the most part unless it needs to be eaten with a fork or spoon, we try to let him feed himself.

Hugs and Kisses – He gives the most amazing hugs ever… and will just run up with a huge smile on his face and wrap his arms around your legs. He also loves to kiss, he hasn’t quite figured out how it really works but he opens his mouth as wide as he can and presses his lips up against your cheek, it’s pretty dang cute!
Spring Break Lunch Date with Daddy!

I’m sure there is much much more that I should be writing for him, but he growing so fast I feel like I can’t keep up with him.

Our One Year Old!!

Lucas with mommy and Lilli on his birthday.
Twelve months already! It feels like this year has passed by in the blink of an eye. Our little boy is no longer this little tiny baby, he is now this sweet little man that gets into just about anything. Some days I wonder how we are going to be  “good” parents to Lucas when literally everything he does causes one or both of us to start laughing. He has figured out EVERYTHING he is supposed to leave alone and has decided those are the only things he wants to play with. He has this amazing little grin that says very clearly, “I know I shouldn’t be doing this, but I am so dang cute I’m going to do it anyway.”

Stats:
Height - 30.5 inches - 78%
Weight - 24lbs 1.3oz - 87%
Head - 18.5 inces - 75%

He is so cute!
Likes:
Exploring – he really wants to learn about everything good or bad, so he will investigate all that we will let him.
Bath time – I keep thinking he will get bored of baths, but every time he gets so excited that I just want to let him take baths every time he gets fussy.
His dogs – I’m not so sure they feel the same way about him, but he loves to chase them around and pull their hair.
“Walking” – he can’t do it by himself but he will walk in an L shape back and forth around the couch.
Standing – he has figured out how to stand all by himself, but he doesn’t want anyone else to know… so as soon as someone notices he plops down on the ground.

Love!

Dislikes:
Baby food – he still loves his fruits, but he has decided he will not eat any of the vegetables or the meats… he will however eat any of those things if they are the same food that mommy and daddy are eating.
Getting his nose cleaned – he got very sick again this month, and of course that came with a runny nose, cough… and he HATED every second of it.
Being left – it doesn’t matter if one parent has stayed in the room with him, if one of us starts to walk out of the room he isin, he starts to fuss and chase after which ever person is walking away.
Cousin fun

Accomplishments:
Talking – he has quite the baby vocabulary these days, he has a few words he says all the time, and then a couple that only get said on special occasions. He loves “dada” and says it pretty much all the time, he also knows “mama”, “hi”, “goggy”, “yes”, and “bye”.
Clapping – he loves to clap, and if he hears a noise that even sounds like clapping he will start clapping himself.
Shaking his head no – I’m not sure where he learned it but any time we tell him no, he starts frantically shaking his head back and forth.
Walking with help and Standing alone – he really loves to do both, we are pretty sure we almost have a walker!

Biting food – we have finally hit the point where we don’t have to tear pieces of food off for him, he is figuring out how to bite it himself, it’s pretty cute to watch him with his 3 little teeth trying to break off a piece of the food!
"What, I'm not doing anything!!"

Eleven Months

Merry Christmas!
Okay, I think it’s time for Lucas to stop getting so big, so fast. I can’t believe we are to the point where we are counting down to him being a year old. I feel like it was yesterday I was lying in the hospital bed holding my brand new baby in my arms. As always Lucas is quite the character, he has learned some very “fun” new things that he likes to do all the time. Each day he is evolving into his own person. It’s funny to watch the things he does that reminds me a little bit of each parent. He has definitely got his daddy’s “I’m going to do this whether you like it or not” smirk.

We went to see Santa, as you can see Lucas was thrilled!
Likes:
  • His “da” – I’m not even joking that he will sit around the house and scream “DADADA” for hours on end when Vinnie isn't home. He thinks his “da” is pretty much the most fun person in the world.
  • Playing hard – what kid doesn't love to play?
  • His “goggies” – he has only said goggy twice but he will crawl as fast as he can to get his dogs any time possible. Oliver doesn't seem to mind it much(which is odd) but Dakota tends to run away to the furthest place possible.
  • Christmas lights – with the holidays coming so soon we have seen quite a few lights in stores, also we decorated on Thanksgiving and took him out to see the lights. He was in a trance the whole time we were outside.
  • Chase – he loves daycare, but he loves his little friend Chase I think most of all. He’s learned some lovely things from him…. Like shutting doors all around the house just because.

Our little batman.

 Dislikes:
  • Food – I know how can this be? Every post prior to this one talks about how he will eat pretty much anything. Well in the last month he has either gotten picky or his mouth is really hurting him because of teething, because he has decided he will only eat some things. If he decides he doesn't like it he will make a face and then slowly stick his tongue out and let it fall on his bib.
  • Having his nose touched – he hates getting his nose cleaned, but he even hates when someone gets near his nose, it’s like he thinks we are always going to try to get stuff out of his nose.

This is daddy's favorite picture.
Accomplishments:
  • Clapping – he pretty much will clap at anything he does. He will even try to do it with his hands full of toys. It’s pretty great. If you say “yay Lucas” he will stop what he is doing so he can clap.
  • Shaking his head no – I guess we tell him no far too often, because if he knows he is doing something he shouldn't he will turn around and look at us and get this sly look on his face and then shake his head no back and forth like crazy and giggle.
  • Walking with help – he loves to use the couch, chairs, peoples legs to get himself where he wants just a little bit faster. It leads me to believe he will start walking soon… but any time we try to hold his hands and let him walk, he decides it’s more fun to jump. So who knows when he will finally start walking on his own.
Happy Thanksgiving from our turkey bum!

Ten Months

Our handsome boy.
I can’t believe that we have already hit double digit months, time is seriously flying by. Every second I swear Lucas is getting older and smarter and bigger. He is quite possibly the greatest thing in our lives. He is such a great baby, everyone tells us all the time how “well behaved” he is and just the perfect baby. Which we agree with the perfect baby statement, however, he is not “well behaved” at home. He is a very mischievous baby and he thinks if he flashes his adorable smile at mommy and daddy we will let him get away with it (He is just like his daddy).
On top of all of that he seems to also have ear troubles. He has already had 2 ear infections, and we have made far too many visits to the doctor. The only good thing about that is we have 10 month stats! The bad thing about it, is that the doctor is thinking he might need tubes in his ears, which makes mommy want to cry.

Stats:

Height – 30.25in – 90th

Weight – 21.7lbs – 71st

Bath time fun
Likes:
  • Bath time – it is his absolute favorite time of the day. If we even walk into the bathroom he starts bouncing up and down and squealing. He also will crawl into the bathroom any time of the day and lift himself up and look in the tub and then back at us, like he is saying “Where’s my water?”
  • Food – as if we had any doubt that he would like normal food with how much he has liked anything we have given him. He absolutely loves getting to sit with mommy and daddy at meal time and getting to eat the same thing as us
  • Daycare – he still loves daycare. He now has 2 girlfriends at daycare. It’s pretty sweet one of the two girls is older and she will walk over and give Lucas kisses all day long and then when I come to pick him up she will stop whatever she is doing and look up and start waving and say “bye bye”.
  • Standing up – he thinks it’s a pretty cool new trick to do on his own, with the support of the ottoman, the sliding door, the tv stand, the chair, mommy’s leg… just about whatever he can find, including the bookcase that he tried to crawl up…..
  • Playing – he likes to be tossed around and playing just about anything that gets him up in the air or falling for fun.

He really gets into everything.

 Dislikes:
  • His new bedtime ritual – we were told we had to stop swaddling and let him learn to fall asleep on his own, which he figured out within days of starting. But he sure likes to scream when we first put him down.
  • His ears – as I said earlier he has some ear problems and he doesn't like them to be touched for any reason.

Yay! Bath time!!
Accomplishments:
  • Pulling himself up – he really loves to be standing and loves that he has finally figured out how to get into the standing position on his own.
  • Talking – he just continues to learn more and more sounds, he now has a “mama” and a “dada” which is pretty sweet. He also really loves to talk in his sleep. He starts every night about 3:30am and doesn't stop until we wake him up in the morning.
  •  Feeding himself – he can’t do it with all things but he has figured out how to at least put things such as puffs in his mouth by himself. He also lies on the ground and drinks his bottle with no help from us.
  • Being strong – I don’t know if that is an accomplishment really, but nothing really phases him. If he gets hurt he will just get right back up and start playing. We got him the flu vaccine and the nurse was really concerned about making him cry, once she was done she said “wow, he’s the only baby all day that hasn't cried.”

Happy Halloween!!

Nine Months

Seriously, we are already ¾ of the way through Lucas’ first year?!?  He is getting so big, so fast. People all the time ask me if he is walking when we are out and about, and when I respond that he is only 9 months, they look at me like I am crazy. Everyone seems to think he is much older than he actually is, that is probably due to his height.

Stats:

Height – 30.25in – 98th (he's a tall boy!)

Weight – 22.5lbs – 88th

Head – 46.36cm – 86th

Likes:
  • Crawling – one day he literally woke up and decided it was time. He didn't struggle or wobble or anything. He just got up and went for it.
  • Getting into everything – he has like a 6th sense for what he ISN'T supposed to be into… and of course that is the one thing he desperately wants.
  • Daycare – he absolutely loves the interaction with all of the other kids.
  • Bath time – as soon as we take him into the bathroom he starts bouncing and laughing because he seriously loves it more than anything in the world.
  • Sliding on the kitchen floor – now that he can crawl he has discovered how amazing it is to slip and slide on the linoleum.
  • Lying on his side – it seems so girly to me, but he loves to sit leaning on his side with his little legs crossed.
 Dislikes:
  • ·  Getting his nose cleaned – I know this is true for all babies, but he has spent a lot of time sick, and I swear he gets upset just when he sees us coming. Vinnie claims the other day when he picked up the sucker he heard Lucas say something similar to “cwap”.
  • ·   His socks – I can’t get the kid to keep them on, and his toes are always cold.
Accomplishments:
  • Crawling – I swore he was never going to get there, but he finally finally finally started crawling!!
  • Eating solids – mommy is a little apprehensive, but he has officially started eating “normal” people food when he can convince mommy to let him try it.
  • Talking – he will now call for his “ma” and his “ba”.

Eight Months

We can’t believe our sweet boy is already 8 months old. The time sure has flown by, but it has been the best 8 months of our life. Lucas has proven to be quite the character, and he finds himself quite funny. Every day I notice another little thing he does that either reminds me of Vinnie or myself.

Likes:
  • Bouncing – this is still his favorite thing in the world to do. He will do it while sitting, while standing, while being held. Any chance he gets he bounces.
  •  People – he seriously is such a charmer. Any time we are anywhere he makes sure everyone notices him and how very cute and happy he is…(he saves all the anger for mommy and daddy at home)
  • Staring – no one else seems to mind this little guy staring at them the entire time we are out and about, however, it makes his mom really uncomfortable… for the people he is staring at.
  • Food – he has yet to dislike ANYTHING given to him. We have started him on meats and normal foods (mashed potatoes and such) and he seems to think it is all great.
  •  His videos – no matter what mood he is in, if we turn on his videos he perks right up and will just be lost in his own world.
  • The dogs – every day he seems more aware of the dogs, however, recently he has decided they are the funniest things in the world. Any movement they make he laughs and laughs. He also likes to “pet” them… which generally ends up being him, poking them, in the eye.
  • Playing with daddy - he loves to play with his daddy. He laughs louder and harder than any other time.
  • Talking and singing – he is hardly ever quiet, even in his sleep he wants to make sure we know he is still around.
    First day at daycare!

 Dislikes:
  •  Crawling backwards – just like last month, he STILL has not figured out how to move forward when crawling. His stance is getting better and better every day… but he still goes backwards.
  • Being left by mom – since I have gone back to work he seems more hesitant to let we walk a foot away from him.
  • Getting his nose wiped – he will do anything and everything to stop us from touching his nose… which has been really hard seeing as he has been sick forever.
  • Teething – he actually seems to be doing pretty okay with the whole teething process but he doesn’t want anyone near his mouth at all. I think it just hurts too much to have anyone touch his gums.
He is such a mommas boy

Accomplishments:
Sitting all by himself!
  • Sitting – YAY! he can FINALLY sit. I don’t really know what changed but one day he woke up and was just willing to do it, and now he does it any time we put him in a sitting position.
  • His first tooth – he has gotten in his first bottom tooth with another one on its way…
  • Playing with others – he started daycare this month… and I will admit, mommy was pretty uneasy about the whole thing. But Lucas went and made friends on the first day and has loved it. It is most definitely a harder situation for mommy and daddy.
If you look close you can see the start of his tooth.
